Your privacy

Your location is yours.

We built Bailar to help you find the dance floor — not to track you for profit, and never to volunteer you to any government.

Bailar is where you discover Latin dance — socials, studios, classes, and instructors. To do that well, the app needs to know roughly where you are. We do not take that trust lightly, and we will never quietly trade it away. Here is our plain-language promise about your data, and especially your location.

We never volunteer your data to the government

Bailar does not voluntarily give your data — including your location — to any government agency, in the United States or anywhere else. We disclose information only when we are compelled by valid legal process that names a specific user and the specific data sought, and even then only the minimum required.

No bulk access. No backdoors.

We do not give any government bulk, direct, or standing access to our systems. We have not built a backdoor or weakened our encryption for surveillance, and we do not take part in voluntary data-sharing programs that would expose your data without lawful process.

We push back

When a request is unlawful, overbroad, or contrary to the law, we challenge it through the courts — the same posture the most privacy-protective technology companies take in standing up for their users. We would rather fight an improper demand than quietly comply with it.

We tell you when we can

Where the law does not gag us, we will notify you if a government asks for your information, so you have a chance to seek your own legal protection. When we are legally forbidden from telling you right away, we will tell you as soon as we are allowed.

If any of this ever changes, these pages change with it — openly, and on the record. Questions? Write to legal@bailar.site.
