Summers bring outdoor socials on the Esplanade and in parks; winter pushes everyone into tight indoor floors where the level sharpens fast. Wednesday and Saturday anchor most weeks.

The scene is welcoming but cold-snap small — show up twice and by the third night someone will recognize you. Ask about congress weekends before planning a trip; one weekend can double the number of dancers in the city.
