Your privacy controls
What's public, what's private, and how to tighten visibility on your profile.
Bailar defaults to conservative visibility. Here's exactly what's what, and how to change it.
Public by default
- Display name + photo on your profile
- Dance styles you practice — the list you build in Edit Profile; add or remove styles there to control what shows
- RSVPs to events — visible on the event's RSVP list, unless your account is private
Private by default
- Your phone number, email, and exact location
- Direct messages (we never train on them, we never sell them)
- Bookmarks and saved items
- Your full event history
Adjustable
Privacy controls live in Profile tab → Settings (there's a search bar at the top if you can't find something):
- Private account — in the Accounts Center at the top of Settings. When on, only approved followers see your posts, videos, and RSVPs.
- Discoverable in Find Dancers — also in the Accounts Center; controls whether you appear in search and dancer suggestions.
- Who can message you — Settings → Messaging: Everyone, Followers only, or No one. Read receipts can be turned off there too.
- Per-surface controls — Comments, Tags and mentions, Sharing, Hidden words, Limit interactions, and Sensitive content each have their own screen under Settings.
Instructor & studio pages
Verified instructors get a public web page at bailar.site/instructors/your-name — it's created automatically as part of verification. Unverified instructors have no public web page. If you're verified and want your page removed, contact support@bailar.site.
